Thank you for your interest in submitting an abstract for the 2022 Heart Matters Symposium being held virtually February 25, 2022. The extended deadline for submission is February 2, 2022. Notifications regarding acceptance of submitted abstracts will be emailed by February 11, 2022.

Who Should Submit an Abstract

We invite all nurses and allied health members to submit abstracts that demonstrate a creative and evidence-based project related to innovations in health care. Eligible projects may include any of the following (not limited to cardiology-specific topics):

  • Measuring outcomes
  • Improving quality and safety through EBP
  • The impact of EBP on work setting and/or work culture
  • Impact of EBP on outcomes management and quality indicators
  • Moving evidence to practice
  • Teaching EBP
  • Synthesis of research evidence or literature review

Presentation Types

  • Virtual Poster (Posters can be presented by PDF or PowerPoint slide. Presenters will pre-record 5-minute presentations detailing poster findings. Details and support for recording will be provided following acceptance of application.)

What to Submit

Abstracts should include the headings listed below, and abstract content is limited to 400 words.

  • Title
  • Purpose: (Include PICO components in the statement)
  • Background (Why this project is important to disseminate)
  • Methods
  • Results/Findings
  • Conclusions and implications for practice (Summarize how the findings will be used in practice.)
  • References (APA format)

Review and Judging Process

Abstracts will be reviewed by the Selection Committee and evaluated based on:

  1. Purpose of the project
  2. Description of the project
  3. Implications for nursing practice
